A team of Special Task Force (STF) nabbed two persons from Bareilly junction on Saturday on charges of drugging and robbing passengers in different trains and recovered 250 gram of psychotropic substance from them.

The arrested persons were identified as Raj Mishra and Santosh Singh of Chinhat in Lucknow.

A senior STF official said that the accused used to befriend passengers in different trains and then used to drug them. After a passenger passed out, the miscreants used to collect their cash and valuables before doing the vanishing act.

After a series of such cases were  reported from various places, a cash reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for the arrest of Raj Mishra and the STF was assigned the case.

Mishra was absconding since 2013 after his name surfaced in this kind of crime for the first time.

The STF team worked on the case and collected details about Raj Mishra. On Saturday, the team was tipped-off about Mishra’s presence at platform number 4 of Bareilly railway station and a team dropped the net on him.

Both accused reportedly owned up their complicity in a number of such crimes. Raj Mishra has six cases of drug-and-rob against him while Santosh has been named in three cases of similar crimes.
