The state was rocked by two sensational killing of members of the fairer sex in Muzaffarnagar and Amethi respectively in the last 24 hours.

While a Dalit woman was forced to end her life after being sexually harassed inMuzaffaranagar, a property dispute led to the fatal torching of a woman and her daughter in Amethi.

In Muzaffarnagar, a 38-year-old Dalit woman of Jolla hamlet was found hanging in her house on Friday morning. The police found a suicide note in which she accused two neighbours for making sexual advances. She also mentioned that she complained to the local police but police apathy and constant threats from the accused forced her to end her pitiable life. The body was sent for autopsy by the police and a case was registered against the named accused.

Elsehwre at Amethi, a woman and her daughter were burnt alive by a kin over a property dispute. Mohamed Jabbar of Khairhana hamlet of Fursatganj was having a property dispute with his younger brother Mohamed Siddiq. Both claimed ownership over the land which ws in their father Mohamed Raza’s name. The two sides came to a head several times in the past but the police intervened and somehow restored normalcy.

The matter took an ugly turn on Thursday night when Siddiq and his friends suddenly nabbed Zabbar’s wife Ameen (45) and his daughter Afreen (18) and set them ablaze after pouring kerosene on them.

Jabbar, who woke up after hearing their screams, tried to rescue his wife and daughter but suffered critical burn injuries in the process. The injured were rushed to the district hospital by neighbours where the mother-daughter duo were pronounced dead upon arrival. A case was registered and a hunt was on to nab the absconding accused.
