State to restrict non-gazetted police officers transfer, not filed personally

Uttar Pradesh will not entertain any application regarding transfer of non-gazetted police officers if the same was not filed `personally’.

“On directions issued by Apex Court regarding transfer of non-gazetted cops to places of their choice, we have stopped entertaining any application if the same was not been made personally by the official concerned,” revealed a senior police officer posted at DGP headquarters.

The top official said that the family members of constables, head-constables, sub-inspectors etc used to submit applications requesting for choice posting on various grounds, mainly on grounds of medical indisposition or wards’ education.

Now all cops have been directed that if they wanted to get postings of their choice then they should submit request letters in their own name instead of any kin.

The officer confirmed that requests made personally will be disposed off on a priority depending on vacancies. He said that only old applications which were already filed by family members and were still pending will be considered but once they were disposed off, the cops themselves will have to submit fresh applications.
