A day after the exit polls were shown by different news channels predicting end of Congress rule, the state offices of the political parties reflect the mood of the workers which varied from deafening silence to maddening excitement.
If on one hand BJP leaders savoured the exit poll results while on the other Congress and Samajwadi Party rejected these polls saying “these results were not true reflection of poll results.” However, the political parties were unanimous on one count that exit polls were not true reflection of the performance of their respective party.
The Samajwadi Party at the Vikramadiya Marg wore a deserted look on Tuesday afternoon. The main road outside office which remained choc-a-bloc with SUVs carrying Samajwadi Party flag at its mast on the bonnet and “Mission 2014” sticker on the rear of the car were absent on Tuesday.
The scene inside the office was no different. Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry who is regular decided to stay away from the party office on Tuesday. Only one red bacon car was there. The Officer on Special Duty in CM’s office S.R.S Yadav was there in the office. “I had a few minute work so I came here,” he said.
When asked about other leaders he said: “These people must be tired and must be giving rest to their limbs and vocal chords.” Scenario was totally different in BJP. The leaders and the workers were full of energy. The small compound in front of state headquarter at Vidhan Sabha Marg was full with vehicles of all size and shapes and there were smiles all around. The cacophony was punctured with BJP’s election punch line “Aache din aane waale hain”
BJP’s spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak was holding forte in media centre. Workers were dropping in enquiring about Kalraj Mishra’s election in Deoria. “Everything has gone well. Not only Deoria we will win over 65 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
BJP state president Dr laxmi Kant Bajpai was visisble happy and held a press conference in the afternoon. “There is no time to take rest till NDA forms Government and Narendra Modi becomes next Prime Minister of the country,” he said grinning ear to ear though stains of hectic campaigning were visible on his face.
In contrast it was a normal day in Nehru Bhawan, the Congress headquarters. There was no discussion on exit polls as Congress leaders have been asked to stay away from any controversy.
