State Govt, Varanasi authorities responsible for Stampede: UP BJP

Published on:

The state unit of BJP held the state government and Varanasi district administration responsible for the deaths of several devotees in a stampede.

Condoling the deaths in Varanasi, state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said on Saturday that the state administration has been paralysed due to the power struggle within the first family of Samajwadi Party.

Maurya said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has little time to spare for official duties as he is locked in a power struggle with his father Mulayam Singh and uncle Shivpal Yadav.

"Despite the huge congregation of people, poper arrangements were not made for regulating the crowd and the local intelligence also failed in assessing the possible public turnout.  The failure of the administration resulted in chaos and led to the stampede causing death of numeorus people," Maurya lamented.
