Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath finally twitted that his government would soon run `Annapurana Canteen’ to facilitate economical meal to the poor and labourers.
The tweet said that very soon, such canteens will be opened in lucknow, Varanasi and Kanpur followed by Gorakhpur and Ghaziabad and later in all important districts.
The UP government move is akin to one taken by late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha vide which numerous ‘Amma canteens’ were started are running successfully across the state dishing out meals at cheap eates to poor people. These canteens served idli for Re 1, while sambhar-rice and curd-rice were sold at Rs 3 each.
Now the Yogi government has planned to start `Annapurna canteen for the poor, where a meal is priced at Rs 5 and breakfast ffor Rs 3. last month in Jhansi too, Adityanath had assured that no poor will sleep hungry or die without treatment during his tenure.
