Expressing concern over lawyers’ belligerence leading to major violence in lucknow, the state government has sought help from all parties to stop such mayhem by those who consider themselves above law.

Parliamentary Affairs minister Mohammad Azam Khan said that it was unfortunate that persons, who are supposed to ensure people get justice, have taken law into their own hands leaving behind several injured.

"We should condemn the incident as educated people wearing the prestigious black coat were seen brandishing pistols. All political parties should condemn such mindless violence in unison. The patience of the state government and district authorities saved the day else it would have snowballed into a major incident," said Khan.

As soon as the House assembled on Thursday, the entire Opposition were on their toes. Congress members even went inside the well of the House demanding a statement from the government. The members alleged that hundreds of vehicles were torched and people were assaulted and harassed by agitating lawyers.

leader of Opposition and BSP member, Swami Prasad Maurya while raising the issue, blamed the state government for its failure to control agitating lawyers. "This incident is a clear indication of anarchy prevailing in the state under the present Samajwadi Party rule," he said.

Suresh Kumar Khanna of the BJP said that it was a shameful incident and the laxity on part of the authorities led to the major incident. He also said that the brother of a former BJP MP was murdered inside the jail.

Congress leader Pradeep Mathur demanded compensation for the people whose vehicles were damaged in the fracas.
