The state government organised workshops across the state where farmers were educated about government schemes and how they could increase production and double their income by 2022.
The Agriculture department was the nodal agency which organised these workshops at block level in collaboration with other departments.
“In a series of meetings, farmers were informed about government schemes which can help them in increasing crop production. They were also asked to use good quality seeds and fertilizers that has been made available to them at cheaper rates,” Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi said in lucknow on Wednesday.
The minister said that at the block level, senior scientists held interactive sessions with farmers. Those farmers who had created a niche in their field or have benefited through diversification of crop were asked to share their experiences with the farmers.
“Farmers in rugged regions were told about the importance of sprinklers. They were also motivated to sell their produce in government mandis,” he said.
Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (workshop for welfare of farmers) was held at all development blocks in collaborations with other departments. Elected representatives including MPs were asked to attend these workshops. BJP’s Kisan Cell and local leaders were also asked to attend these workshops. In each block, seven progressive farmers were honoured.
Senior BJP leaders also actively participated in the functions and interacted with farmers. The leaders listened to their complaints and redressed them.
