The Yogi Government has issued a citizen charter in minor irrigation department so that farmers can get free boring, installation of tube wells  and get no objection certificate for drawing ground water in a particular time frame.

“It has come to light that farmers give applications for either boring of installation of tube wells and this application lies pending for months altogether. The farmers suffer because of the apathy of government working. To end this government has announced citizen charter so that people’s problems can be solved in a particular time frame,” Government spokesman said in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said the farmers will have to give application for free boring or installation of tube wells to the assistant engineer of the minor irrigation department. Then the application should move in a particular time frame. If the officials fail to adhere to the charter action would be taken against them, the official said.

The officials said that the charter has also fixed time frame as when the Executive engineer should order release of pipes and in how many days the specific work should be completed. The charter is aimed at providing relief to the farmers. The executive engineer has been made a nodal officer who will monitor implementation of charter in letter and in spirit, he said.

“A similar charter has been issued for allowing farmers to draw ground water. The farmers will get permission, if applicable, in prescribed time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government has also ordered financial assistance to the farmer which rangers from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 for boring and Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 for installing pump sets under different categories.
