The state government has sought clarification from the district magistrates the chief development officers of the 14 districts for their failures to spend the money provided under the MGNREGS and also asked them to ensure their physical presence during the next review meeting.
The clarification was sought by the Agriculture Production Commissioner Alok Ranjan who is also discharging the resposnibilty of the officialting Chief Secretary in the absence of the Chief Secretary javed Usmani who has gone on leave.
It was found during the review meeting that 14 districts- Jaunpur, Allahabad, Jhansi, Farrukhabad Unnao, Bahraich, Kanpur Nagar, Ghazipur, Kushinagar, Kanpur Dehat, Ambedkaranagar Raibareli, Varanasi and Kasganj failed to spend the allotted funds for the fiscal year of 2012-13. “ Thus the clarifications have been sougght from DMs and CDOs of these districts” and official spokesman said on Wednesday.
