Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday stressed that his government believes in democratic process and utility of the media and hence keeps a positive attitude towards the negative press.

“Media – both print and electronic – have sometimes been an eye opener. They have brought to light those issues which have been neglected by the governments. Therefore, my government always gives due importance to the media,” Yadav said while inaugurating a media network in lucknow on Monday.

He said that his government has sped up development because it has attached importance to media reports. “Where ever the media highlighted our mistakes, we tried to rectify that. We looked at those negative reports with a positive mindset and this helped us bring a transformation in Uttar Pradesh,” said he.

Elaborating on the transformation, Yadav said that the development schemes have been completed in record time. “The lucknow-Agra Expressway has set a new yard stick for other governments and the work is being completed in record time,” said the CM.

“Similar is the case with the Gomti River front scheme and Metro project in lucknow. Both the projects were taken up late, still they would be completed in record time,” Yadav said.

He also said that the state government has distributed laptops among 17 lakh students, 45 lakh families have been brought under the social security network and health care facility has been extended to people free of cost.

“There is a all-round development in UP. The villages will get 16 hour power and urban areas between 22-24 hour from October. The IT city project is being developed in lucknow, Unnao and Allahabad,” the CM informed.
