After failing to make noticeable impact on boosting the party, state Congress chief Raj Babbar has now effected changes by shifting Chairman of state media committee Satyadeo Tripathi on Saturday.
Babbar had initially formed a `Jan Andolan’ committee to draw public attention towards failure of Modi-led Union government, but later changed it into `Jan Samasya Niwaran Cell’.
Sources said that Tripathi was shifted to the party’s Disciplinary Committee to pave way for a Congress legislator to the post. This legialtor had recently arranged an interaction of Babbar with select media persons without informing Tripathi.
At a meeting held with Congress leaders comprising party’s media cell, administration and other important wings on Saturdayafternoon, Babbar also made it clear that he did not want to face the media directly on the issue of the impending Urban local Bodies poll in the state.
When pointed out by a spokesman that some media persons wanted to interact with him on the Urban Bodies poll, Babbar outrightly refused and said that if he had to interact with t he media then what would the people assigned with the job do. Interestingly, Babbar even said that in case he gave away information and later the high command adopted some other policy, then he would have to face embarrassment. However, he tried to make it clear that the party would go it alone and contest all seats.
During last Assembly poll, it was Babbar who outrightly denied of any coalition with Samajwadi Party but later his statement went wrong as the party decided to join hands with the Samajwadi Party.
A UP Congress communique said on Saturday that former minister and veteran leader Dr Ram Krishna Dwivedi was removed from Disciplinary Committee and included in `Patron Cell’ while Satyadeo Tripathi was shifted to Disciplinary Committee. Former MlA, Fazle Maqsood and Ram Bhadhur were also included in Disciplinary Committee.
UPCC vice-president Dr RP Tripathi and Secretary Abhimanyu Singh have been given the charge of administration while UPCC general secretary Pramod Singh would look after office property.
The release further said that Ganga Singh had been made Chairman of legal Cell, Virendra Nath Tripathi Chairman of Human Rights Cell, Mohamed Yasir Abbasi Chairman of Right to Information (RTI) Act Cell and Sharad Kumar Shukla the Co-ordinator of RTI cell. Babbar also appointed Shrot Gupta as the new Chairman of UPCC Social Media Cell.
