After the success of Kamal Mela (lotus fair) in the rugged Bundelkhand region last month, the state Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) will hold month-long rural fairs in around 20 districts from December 16.
The pilot project of Kamal Melawas launched in Banda of Bundelkhand on November 18 for three days and it was a huge success. In the mela, the BJP popularized the policies of the NDA government and as how PM Narendra Modi was trying to extend help to the poor and deprived sections.
“The BJP will now use these fairs to train local rural youths the virtues of going cashless and how to use one’s mobile as e-bank,” BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
He said these mela, which will only be organised in rural areas will propagate the BJP’s history as well as work done by the Modi government.
“Besides, the schemes of Central government will also be publicized in the mela where people will have all types of attraction like puppet show, mehendi, shooting and others rural games,” he said.
“ Post demonetisation, training of cashless business would be the agenda in the Kamal Mela where ‘chai pe charcha’ and selfie with Modi (cut out) will be the attraction,” he said.
The 20 districts where the Kamal Mela would be held include Hathras, Pilibhit, Bijnor, Rampur, lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Kaushambi and Mirzapur between December 16 and January 16.
