The lok Sabha elections might be two years away but the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has started preparation with right earnest and this time focus is on those constituencies which it had lost in 2014 elections. BJP state general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that though BJP has asked leaders to visit all the 80 constituencies but the main focus is on five constituencies which party had lost in 2014 elections.

The constituencies which BJP had failed to win are: Azamgarh, Kannauj, Rae Bareli, Amethi and Mainpuri. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had won elections from Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively while Mulayam Singh won election from Azamgarh, his daughter-in law Dimple Yadav from Kannauj and his nephew Tej Pratap Singh Yadav is MP from Mainpuri.

“Political leaders were asked to visit constituencies and stay there for a night but political heavy weights went to the identified five constituencies. This is done with a design to know as why we lagged in 2014 lok Sabha elections. These leaders were open the door of communication with people of these constituencies,” he said.

BJP MP RK Singh went to Azamgarh, Union Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar went to Kannauj, Union Minister and Retd Gen VK Singh went to Rae Bareli, Union Minister Smriti Irani toured Amethi and stayed there for a night. She had unsuccessfully contested 2014 election against Rahul Gandhi. A senior leader Ram Kripal Yadav toured Mainpuri.

The state unit has also made plans to make foray in rural areas by organising Pt Deen Dayal Upadhaya Birth Centenary celebrations from April 24 and September 25. Deputy Chief Minister and national vice-president of the party Dr Dinesh Sharma has been made in-charge of these celebration which will be marked by seminars and meeting. “Blood Donation camps will be organised in block level and a list of blood donors will be compiled and will be put up on social sites,” Pathak said.
