The state unit of Bharatiya Janata party has questioned as why State Government has not included Ayodhya in the list of religious places that will get uninterrupted electricity 24x7 from March, 2015.

“Ayodhya is one of the most pious cities of Uttar Pradesh and millions of pilgrims across country visit the birth place of lord Ram every year. Why this city was not included in the list of religious cities that will get 24x7 power from march,” asks BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had announced nine prominent religious places spread over in eight districts in the state that will get uninterrupted electricity.

The places which will get 24x7 elelctricity are Dargah Kichocha Sharif, Dargah Naseemabad, Hastinapur, Panch Pyare, Dewa Shareef, Shravasti, Sarnath, Mathura And Vrindanad.

The Government has clarified that round-the-clock power supply would be limited to the particular religious place and not the entire place or district.

Suresh Khanna said in a statement issued here on Tuesday that even the Kashi Vishawanath temple at Varanasi has not been included in the list.

“What kind of mentality is getting reflected by depriving the city of Ram from basic facility like powerIJ It is our strong demand that Ayodhya must also be included in the list,” Khanna said.

He also questioned government decision to increase power tariff. “This decision is arbitrary and anti-people. The line loss amounts to almost 40 per cent. The Power Corporation owes over Rs 6000 crore from the state government. If Government clears the due there would not be any need to increase tariff, he said.
