State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party established `khoon ka rishta’ with people by organizing blood donation camps in all 75 districts of the state to commemorate the diamond jubilee of August Kranti Diwas.
The party also made a directory consisting of 1.35 lakh volunteers, who would be a call away when a patient requires blood. The blood donors directory was prepared with meticulous details like blood group of the donor, his address and mobile number.
“The spirit behind this is that people who vote for the BJP should not feel harassed at the time of emergency,” state BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said on Wednesday.
The BJP had earlier held a week-long blood testing programme at block-level in all the districts, while celebrating the birth centenary of party ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. The details were compiled and a ‘blood donor directory’ was released.
“On the 75th year of August Kranti, we are trying to provide a big opportunity to the poor to get free blood at their time of emergency by holding a big blood donation camp in the state and releasing the blood donors directory,” Pathak said.
The BJP leader claimed that during the blood donation camps, more than 50,000 people have registered themselves for donating their blood.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the campaign in BRD College in Gorakhpur by inaugurating a blood donation camp. “The country needs 120 lakh units of blood every day, but the available blood is just 60 lakh unit. Half the people die for want of blood. Therefor the BJP has started this blood donation campaign,” Chief Minister said.
Yogi also released a blood donors directory in Gorakhpur.
If the CM held fort in Gorakhpur, state BJP chief and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya participated at a similar campaign in Kanpur.
Minister of state for Rural Development Mahendra Singh inaugurated a blood donation campaign in Moradabad while another minister Suresh Passi was in Etah. All ministers, who are in-charge of districts and senior party leaders released the blood donor directory in different districts. A similar blood donation camp is scheduled to be held in lucknow on Thursday at the state BJP office.
