State BJP lauds PM for rolling out GST

The ruling BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit  has lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rolling out the  new tax regime Goods and Services Tax(GST) in the country.   BJP said the new tax regime which has introduced `one nation one tax’  will prove to be a game changer   as there will  be only four tax rates for over 1,200 commodities and services across the country.  The BJP however criticised the opposition Samajwadi Party, for opposing GST   described as `Good and simple tax by the prime minister narendra Modi.

“The double standard of the Samajwadi Party stands exposed as its senior leaders attended the midnight function at the Parliament for launching the GST. The state leaders of the Samajwadi party are opposing the new commodity tax’’, said Vijay Pathak the state BJP general secretary. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had himself   had praised all the political parties for making the GST possible. He said without the unanimous support of all the political parties and 29 state assemblies the GST law would never have come into e4xistance.

The BJP reacted after    the youth leaders of the Samajwadi Party tried to block the lucknow-bound Ganga Gomti Express train near Allahabad on Saturday morning to protest against the implementation of the indirect tax GST.

“The opposition seems to be confused and clue less. Samajwadi party seems unable   to bear with the achievement of the NDA government, hence they are opposing it. When the proposal of GST was moved by the earlier Congress regime Samajwadi party had supported the Constitutional amendment bill in Parliament. Suddenly the party has developed new ideas and they have decided to oppose it’’, said the BJP leader.

The BJP leader said several opposition leaders attended the programme at the Central Hall of the Parliament on Friday/Saturday   night which shows that the porogramme was an all party affairs and barring the Congress all parties attended the programme for launching the GST.   He said that the GST is a historic milestone for the NDA government after demonetization as it will curb corruption and other financial irregularities.
