SP's senior members to held meeting today

With an apparent thaw in relations in the Samajwadi Party’s first family, senior members of the Yadav clan are likely to hold a meeting on Friday apparently to iron out rough edges in the relations.

A senior SP leader told ‘The Pioneer’ on Thursday that all four senior leaders from Yadav family - patriarch Mulayam Singh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, state president Shivpal Singh Yadav and national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, will attend this meeting.

“This would be the first time in last three months all four leaders would sit together to discuss party issues. What exactly is on the agenda is not known but issues like distribution of tickets during Assembly polls and reinstatement of sacked ministers could figure,” the source said.

However differences still prevail in the party which was evident during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s speech at the inaugurating of trial run of Metro Rail in lucknow on Thursday.

As Mulayam praised Akhilesh Yadav for introducing Metro in record time, he did not forget to praise Shivpal Yadav. Yadav Sr even called Shivpal Yadav as Vikas Purush and explained in detail the `revolution’ he had brought in the co-operative sector.

The SP chief even asked party workers and leaders to resolve their differences and fight unitedly like a force to bring Samajwadi Party back to power.

Mulayam knows that message of unity will percolate down if all the tall leaders of Yadav clan sit together. “Friday’smeeting is an attempt in this direction,” the source said.

The war within family came out in the open on September 14 when Akhilesh Yadav was removed from the post of state president. In retaliation, Akhilesh striped his `chacha’ of ministerial position. After many twists and turns which saw Ram Gopal Yadav openly coming in support of Akhilesh, he (Ram Gopal) was expelled from the party on October 23 but was reinstated on November 17.
