Spiritual speaker Devaki Nandan Thakur, who shot into limelight for opposing the recent amendments to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by Parliament, received life threats from an unknown man who claimed to be an activist of Bheem Army.
Thakur filed a complaint in Mathura against the unidentified caller.
The man, in a video clip, threatened to chop Thakur into pieces. The video went viral on social media.
Thakur, who is presently staying in an ashram in Mathura, told reporters on Wednesday that he was not afraid of such people and was ready to face them.
He said that a complaint was filed on the issue.
Earlier on Tuesday, the spiritual leader was arrested by the police in Agra for leading an agitation against the amendments to SC/ST Act.
The police said that Thakur made provocative speech leading to his arrest from a hotel in Kamlanagar in new Agra police station area.
Thakur was, however, released after some time and allowed to go to Mathura.
The police also banned a mahapanchayat called by Thakur at Khandauli over the SC/ST Act issue.
