Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked officials to speed up revenue collection to meet target at the earliest saying those doing exemplary work would be honoured.
“Realisation of revenue is important because money collected goes in building infrastructure in the state. The target has been set for officials. Those officials failing to meet the target would be punished while those who will meet their target in record time would be honoured,” Yadav said while reviewing collections of tax and non-tax revenue here on Thursday.
He asked the District Magistrates to prepare a check list of revenue collection and review it on monthly basis. “Send the progress report to the state government by 10th of every month so that we can have a clear picture of tax collection,” Yadav said.
Chief Minister has asked officials to classify districts on the basis of taxes including Excise, Tax and registration, Transport, Entertainment and Trade tax. The districts should be graded accordingly.
“The money collected in form of tax goes in development of state. So the officials in the districts should ensure that taxes are realized and every penny is deposited in the government exchequer,” Chief Minister said.
During meeting Yadav was informed that during the month of August five districts namely lalitpur (171.20 per cent), Rae Bareli (122.70 per cent), Chitrakoot (115.92 per cent), Amethi (108.14 per cent) and Mahoba (102.43 per cent) excelled in revenue collection.

Chief Minister congratulated the officials of these districts who have excelled in tax collection saying their hard work would ensure that more children could go to school and safe drinking water could reach villages.
