The new Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took control of the party after Election Commission verdict on Tuesday. Akhilesh Yadav affirmed his authority saying `` the Samajwadi Party will go for pre-poll alliance and an announcement would be made within next two days’’.

In an informal interaction with the media here on Wednesday at his official residence Akhilesh said that the alliance would be announced in lucknow in two days time. He also ruled out his visit to New Delhi for holding talks for the alliance with the Congress and other parties. This was for the first time that Akhilesh made the announcement about alliance before the media. Akhilesh Yadav for the last nearly four months has consistently maintained that if the Samajwadi party goes for an alliance with the Congress then the coalition will win at least 300 seats in UP assembly.

Akhilesh Yadav replying to a question denied that he had any differences with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav over the alliance with the Congress and other small parties.

“Netaji  mere pita hain,  ye to nahi badal sakta hai. Ye ladai  zaroori thi, per ye mere liye khushi ki baat nahi hai. Wo mera pita hain. Hamari aur unki list 90 percent to comman thi.( Netajee is my father and it cannot be changed. We had a fight over the party and this fight was required. It was not a happy situation for me. He is my father and the candidates list of both the faction were 90 per cent common)”.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “there is very little time left for the campaigning and lot of things are to be done in very little time’’.  He added “ Samay bahut kam hai,  hame ab logon ke beech jana hai,” .

“Ab badi zimmedari hai, ab hamara saara dhyaan dobara sarkaar banane par hai ( I have been entrusted with a big responsibility and my entire focus is on retaining the power and forming the next government in the state),” said the chief minister.

Akhilesh Yadav also met the leaders and party workers at his official residence, on Kalidas Marg and appealed to them to go to their respective constituencies to ensure victory of the party candidates. The Minister Rajendra Choudhury, a staunch supporter of Akhilesh, said that the people of the state are with Akhilesh Yadav and he will be the CM again.

Soon after the EC announced its verdict on Tuesday Akhilesh and his wife Dimple had rushed to meet Mulayam at his residence and they sought blessings from the SP patriarch for becoming the CM in the state for the second time. Akhilesh is also likely to release the candidate’s list and poll manifesto within a couple of days.
