SP will form the govt : Akhilesh

Drawing analogy from the marriage ritual of `saath phere’,   Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that after completion of the seven phases of Assembly elections, his party will form the next government.

“Saat pheron ke baad, Samajwadi Party pucca sarkaar banayagee (After the completion of seven phases of poll, Samajwadi Party will form the government) said Yadav while addressing newspersons in lucknow on Tuesday.

“Samajwadi Party was number one in addressing the maximum election meetings. We are also number one in performance and delivering to the people. We maintained from day one of the campaign that we want mandate of the people on the basis of our performance,’’ said the Chief Minister.

Yadav went on the claim, “I am  ready to give account of my performance in the last five years. let the Prime Minister give his record of the last three years as to what his government did for the state which returned maximum number of MPs of the BJP.’’

In an obvious dig at PM Narendra Modi, the SP president said ``The SP conducted only one roadshow in Varanasi and the response  from the people was overwhelming. Those who failed to get public support had to conduct three roadshows in Varanasi.’’

Yadav said, “This was the most transparent Assembly poll ever in UP. It was not possible for anybody to hide anything. This was the reason that forced PM Narendra Modi to camp in Varanasi for three consecutive days.’’

Targeting the BJP and the PM, the SP chief said, “The BJP leaders are habitual lairs and keep dishing out lies until the people start believing it to be the truth. The PM made an issue out of breakdown of power supply at Kashi Vishwanath temple. The fans were put off in the temple to light the `Arti’ and one of the priests pushed the wrong button that caused darkness for few seconds.’’

Seeking to corner the PM on the agenda of development, Yadav said, “let the PM tell the people about progress made in turning Varanasi to Kyoto. Even if five per cent work is done then it can be said that work is on. I request the PM to get the details of project prepared and after March 11, the new SP regime will give its full cooperation for implementation of the  projects.’’ Narrating his experience of the month-long campaign where he addressed over 200 meetings, Yadav said, ``I have no ambitions for national politics. I will remain in UP and work for the people here. I have toured the entire state several times. It was for the first time that large number of youths in blue denims were making vidoes on their smart phones and a large number of young girls and women could also be seen making videos of the meetings.’’
