Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that to win Panchayat elections the ruling party was violating model code of conduct. It is unfortunate that people who are responsible for free and fair elections are looking other way, the party leader said.
BJP State Preside lakshmikant Bajpayi said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was allowed to address a public gathering after inaugurating the four-lane highway connecting Barreily with Bahedi. This is violation of election code of conduct and administration should not have permitted this, he said.
“Yadav used official function to address people. He talked at length about his government’s schemes. This is against the spirit of free and fair elections,” he said and added that BJP would raise the issue with the state election commission.
He even expressed concern over current situation of law and Order. The criminals are emboldened because the police do not dare to arrest them because these people are politically connected. No officer in this government wants to sticks his neck out
“People are fed up with this government because development in Akhilesh Raj has come to a naught. People have made up their mind to teach Samajwadi Party a lesson. The ruling party will get a reply in the 2017 elections,” he said.
