SP to provide quality education to children in Bundelkhand region

In a path-breaking decision, the Samajwadi Party government has decided to provide quality education to children freed from clutches of human traffickers in schools to be set up in Bundelkhand region and Maharajganj (east UP).

A government spokesman said on Friday that theCM has directed Women's Welfare and Secondary Education department to take prompt and necessary steps in this direction.

Children, who work as bonded labourers, are migrants workers who shift from impoverished region like Bundelkhand and eastern UP for work. As they are unskilled, they end up in brick-klins or bangle factories of Ferozabad.

Studies carried out by different agencies show that small children are the worst sufferers. They do not go to schools and instead work with their parents helping them in arranging bricks for drying and collecting broken and improperly moulded bricks. Once they get older they are drawn into this trade having being trained from a young age.

“The government has decided to open schools in Bundelkhand and Maharajganj for these children where they will get quality education free of cost,” the spokesman said.

The CM has also announced that the Juvenile Justice Fund, established earlier, would now be known as 'Samajwadi Human Trafficking Prevention Fund'.

later, Yadav released a book `Encounter with politics’ written by a senior journalist. He said UP is a politically vibrant state as it decides the fate of Indian politics. “The SP government has worked overtime to ensure good life for women, children and those below the poverty line,” he said.

The CM also spoke about the ills in Indian politics when issues take centrestage than policies and ideology. “We should take a leaf out of US elections where leaders discuss policies. They prepare a roadmap as to where they intend to take the nation. But here, we discuss trivia and base our campaigns on these. This should change,” he said.

Prominent poet Gopaldas Neeraj, former vice-chancellor Sampurnanad University Binda Prasad Mishra and Retired Judge CB Pandey also spoke on the occasion.
