Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav claimed that people had made up their mind to support SP to form the next government in UP in 2022.

Yadav was in his native village Saifai in Etawah district on Saturday. He claimed that the people of UP had made up their mind to dislodge the Bharatiya Janata Party government and give their all out support to SP for the next government.

"The BJP has failed to deliver to the people as per the promises made by it in its election manifesto in 2017.  Everyone has seen the defeat of BJP in West Bengal elections and how it came to power in Bihar. Now similar things will happen in UP too," he said.

On the issue of pre-poll alliance with his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, Akhilesh said that all small parties that wanted to defeat the BJP should come on one platform.

“Samajwadi Party is working as per its strategy to dislodge the BJP from power," he added.

On the question of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Satish Chandra Mishra holding Brahmin sammelans in Etawah, Akhilesh Yadav said that it was a good thing if someone came here (Etawah). “They can visit Etawah Safari Park and see how much development has happened during the SP regime in the past,” he added.

On the meeting of opposition party leaders organised by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Before that, the biggest election of the country is going to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year,”

On giving a clean chit to the police on the Bikru case, the SP chief said that whatever agency was investigating it may give a clean chit, but how could one remove the doubts in people’s minds. “The people want to know the truth,” he added.

Akhilesh Yadav met party workers at PWD Guest House in Saifai and listened to their problems. In the crowd of workers, a 7-year-old girl, resident of Kishni tehsil of Mainpuri district, tied rakhi on the wrist of Akhilesh Yadav.
