SP state executive held first meet under Shivpal Yadav

Amid the raging feud within the Samajwadi Party, the first meeting of the newly constituted state executive hailed the stellar performance of the Akhilesh Yadav government on Saturday. Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav however skipped the meet.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was also expected to attend the meeting but despite being in the state capital on Saturday, he chose to skip the meeting and closeted himself with some senior leaders.

The state executive also discussed the preparations for the party's silver jubilee function in lucknow on November 5. The 2017 Assembly polls was also one of the important issues that were discussed in the meeting.

"The first meeting of the executive, under state chief Shivpal Singh Yadav, discussed at length the strategy for making the 25th anniversary celebrations, a huge success and a historical event," SP spokesman Ambika Chaudhary said.

"The state executive committee members have been given different responsibilities for making the event a success. They have also been asked to start preparing for the Assembly polls and ensure the party's victory," said Chaudhary.

The meeting passed a resolution on the economic and political situation. Shivpal Yadav had on Friday convened a meeting of district and city unit chiefs of the party. This meeting too was given a miss by theCM though the former had personally met and invited him a day before.

Apparently seeking to bury the hatchet, Shivpal in the meeting on Friday declared nephew Akhilesh the party's CM face and also offered to resign from the state chief's post, earlier held by the CM.

Akhilesh, on the other hand, held a separate meeting with district chiefs and apprised them of his 'Rath Yatra’ scheduled from November 3 and said that they would be kept informed about it.

Akhilesh has called a meeting of all party MlAs and MlCs on Sunday, while Mulayam has convened a meeting of party legislators, ministers and MPs on Monday.

The executive meet which continued for two hours lost its sheen as except Shivpal Yadav no other significant leader attended it.  During the meet, Shivpal Yadav hadto twice rush to Mulayam Singh's residence where five senior SP leaders were closeted with the party chief.
