SP plans to distribute bicycles to farmers

In apprehension of erosion of its vote base, the Samajwadi Party government now plans to distribute bicycles to lure the farmers, knowing very well that there is great unrest among the farming community due to non fulfilment of the promises made by the ruling party during the last Assembly election.

This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesman Chandra Mohan while addressing media persons here on Thursday.

“Be it the dues of cane farmers or loan waiver, the SP government has only fooled the farmers and now aware of a backlash from them, it wants to pacify the growers by distributing bicycles among them. But this ploy will fall flat on its face,” he said.

The BJP state spokesman also condemned the lathi-charge in Gorakhpur on the water agitators who were demanding construction of a bridge at Kamharia Ghat.

“The insensitive officers who ordered the lathi-charge should be terminated as the entire exercise was not only undemocratic but also barbaric,” Mohan said.

The BJP state spokesman also demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and government job to the wife of constable Susheel Pandey who was run over by the vehicle of cattle smugglers in Mirzapur district on April 16.

“No responsible officer or minister has gone to console the bereaved family. It appears that the government functionaries only go to the doors of Muslims,” Mohan alleged.
