Acting tough on complaints of corruption and ineffective policing, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suspended another IPS officer, Maniram Patidar, posted as Superintendent of Police of Mahoba, on Wednesday.
Patidar was replaced by Deputy Commissioner in Lucknow police, Arun Srivastava, and the former was attached to the DGP headquarters in Lucknow..
On Tuesday, Senior Superintendent of Police of Prayagraj, Abhishek Dikshit, was suspended after being charged with corruption, inert policing and with doing little to check the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
A senior Home department official said in Lucknow on Wednesday that the suspended officer had sullied the image of UP Police by his inappropriate acts.
It was reported that Patidar used to demand money from truckers transporting stone chips and other building material. He even harassed the drivers and staff of trucks as a measure of coercion.
“The government is committed to its motto of zero tolerance towards corruption and action against such errant officers and personnel will continue in future,” the Home department official said.
