Rattled by resignations by senior ministers and MLAs from the party, the Bharatiya Janata Party got some solace on Wednesday when sitting Samajwadi Party MLA Hariom Yadav along with Congress MLA Naresh Saini joined the ruling party.
Former MLA Dharampal Singh too joined the ruling party in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Dr Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh.
Welcoming these leaders, Swatantra Dev Singh said that after being influenced by the welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, these leaders had joined the BJP.
"Their joining the BJP will further strengthen the party's election campaign. Under the guidance of BJP national party president Jagat Prakash Nadda these leaders will work and strengthen the party," he said.
Addressing journalists, Congress MLA Naresh Saini said that under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh had written a new development story.
"The development of Uttar Pradesh is possible only under a double engine government," SP MLA Hariom Yadav said.
He said that they would work selflessly for strengthening the BJP and the party organisation.
