The Samajwadi Party has received complaints about a party MlA demanding money in lieu of government jobs. This has alerted the party ruling the state and it has placed a complaint box at the district office in Moradabad.
Anyone can drop his or her complaint against any party leader or worker assuring a government job or any other favour in return of money. The move came after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s office received two complaints against party MlA from Chandausi reserved seat in Moradabad, lakshmi Gautam, accusing her of taking money by promising job.The Chief Minister’s office has directed the local administration to probe into the charges.
“We have installed a complaint box with a notice for people to drop complaints if any party leader, including MlA lakshmi Gautam, has taken money for a job or for some other favour. This is the only way we can build confidence among people as our party’s image is being tarnished,” SP’s Sambhal district president Feroz Khan said on Friday.
Khan said he would “personally” look into all the complaints and would try to get the money returned.“I had enquired from lakshmi Gautam about the allegations and she claimed the money was taken by her former husband,” he added. The first complaint came to light last week when Rajendra Kumar of Muradnagar in Ghaziabad alleged that he had given Rs 3 lakh to Gautam for securing a teacher’s job. He claimed the MlA’s gunner was the mediator in the deal. Kumar’s relative, Deendayal, who lives in Chandausi, claims to be a witness to the transaction.
A complaint in this regard was also sent to the Chief Minister’s office.Three days later, Jagat Singh of Badaun accused the MlA of taking Rs 38,000, against a demand of Rs 50,000, for a contractual job. This complaint also reached the Chief Minister’s office. “Even Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav called me up in this regard. The complainant had met local leaders and explained his grievance,” Khan said.
The matter was referred to Chandausi City Kotwali police for investigation. But the police refused to carry out investigation against an MlA.Meanwhile, a group of women staged a protest against former district president of SP’s women wing in Sambhal, Sangita Yadav, alleging that she had taken money from them for getting free houses sanctioned for them.
