Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has hit out at the Samajwadi Party for allying with the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and appealed to the Muslims that their support to SP would indirectly benefit the BJP in the coming Assembly elections. “SP is making false propoganda that BSP has transferred its votes to BJP in the last lok Sabha polls due to which it could not win a single seat but actually it was the SP which transferred its vote to BJP,” she alleged while adding that in the 2014 lok Sabha polls BSP was the third party after BJP and the Congress to get the highest number of vote share. “Muslim support to SP at this juncture in UP polls will indirectly help the BJP,” she claimed.
In a press release issued here on Tuesday afternoon, Mayawati said that SP was himself saying that it would go in alliance in the UP polls hence it is enough proof that it is weak to contest elections alone and has admitted its defeat in the polls. “It needs to be pondered seriously as to why the chief minister who fought the 2012 Assembly polls alone feels the need for an alliance in the coming elections,” she said. Mayawati said Akhilesh’s statement on ticket distribution in SP also indicated that the ongoing tussle in his party is
far from over and Muslims should not waste their votes on SP. Akhilesh has said, “Tickets are changed till last moment. We will only field those who can win elections. I will give my suggestions and advice on Assembly tickets to the party president.” Vote to SP would eventually help BJP which has forced
hardships on the people through its “immature decision” on demonetisation, she said. The reaction of the BSP president comes after chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in a statement had alleged that as BSP transferred its votes in favour of the BJP in the 2014 lS polls, hence it did not win a single seat.
“The SP leadership should clarify what are their standing in the national politics when BSP is standing at the third position after BJP and Congress,” she claimed. However, criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuation of problem for 90 per cent of the population due to demonetistion, Mayawati, demanded review of the demonetisation move by the Centre. She asked PM and his council of ministers to go before the people and know their problems. “Today is the 35th day of demonetisation but still the people are reeling under shortage of currencies,” she said while claiming that people would reply the Centre in the coming assembly elections.
