Gearing up for the next assembly elections the ruling Samajwadi Party leadership has issued directives to its office bearers to identify the “traitors” within party fold and work unitedly to spread the message of good governance among the masses. The directives were given in a closed door meeting of District and city presidents held here on Wednesday which was addressed by party’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

“There are many black sheep in the party. Identify them so that we can throw them out of the party. Anti-party activities should stop at the earliest. Gaddaro ki iss party mein koi jagah nahi hai (There is no place of traitors in the party)”, Mulayam Singh Yadav told party officers. A senior leader who attended the meeting told The Pioneer here that Neta ji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) has asked party leaders to gear up for the elections. He said that party leaders should go to the people with clean image. “The district presidents have been asked to prepare a list of leaders indulged in anti-party activities so that action could be taken against them,” he said.

Yadav Senior told the leaders that party was doing good work. The onus is now on the party workers to spread the message among the people. “You (leaders) failed us during lok Sabha election. Vidhan Sabha ke chunav mein to izzat bachcha lena,” he said. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the state president of the party said that law and order situation in UP has improved. Government is working overtime to improve infrastructure in the state. Many pro-people and pro-farmer decisions have been taken and its result could be seen at the ground level, he said.

“We will speed up development in next two years. Directives have been issued to the officials to implement the decisions of the government in letter and spirit,” Akhilesh Yadav said. The leaders said that workers should go to villages and apprise people of the policies that could help them. Tell them about kisan bima yojana and how UP government has extended help to farmers during calamities. Senior ministers like Shivpal Singh Yadav, Rajendra Chaudhry, Arvind Singh Gope and state secretary SRS Yadav addressed the workers.
