SP leader lands in controversy

Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Babu Yadav, who is party’s district president and also given the status of a State Minister by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav finally fell into trouble when a case was registered against him for demanding Rs chicks’ from a Party’s woman activist.

The cops of the local Kotwali police station had to register the case against Ram Babu on directions of the local court after the woman activisit Madhu Pande, who was also expelled from the Party after she exposed the misdeeds of the SP leader, sought order in this regard as the local officers refused to take cognizance of the matter.

Superintendent of police of Auraiya, Sanjay Kakkad when contacted he claimed that they registered the case and the matter is under investigation. It may be mentioned that Ram Babu has been caught on tape asking female party worker Madhu Pandey to get him "chooza" (literally meaning chicks) in the age group of 18-20. The politician obviously refers to young girls as "chooza".

In a conversation being aired on a local TV channel, Yadav can be heard asking  Madhu Pandey to make "vyavashtha" (arrangement) for him. Madhu Pandey claimed that every time she visits to the SP leader, she brings along a woman to which Yadav says, "Mahila nahin, chooza lao. Chooza janti ho - yahi 18 se 20 saal ki (Bring chicks not a woman. Do you know chicks, between 18 to 20 years)."  Madhu Pandey played the recorded conversation before journalists in Aurraiya and claimed that she was being victimised by Yadav who had even slapped her at a meeting of the party.

"When I raised certain issues against him, he got me expelled from the party. He has been exploiting me and others for several years now but no one believes us. That is why I recorded this conversation," she said. Madhu Pandey had also approached the district magistrate in Aurraiya, seeking action in the matter as well as security for herself and her family members. However, neither the DM, nor the local police acted on her complaintg so she finally went to court.

Meanwhile, Mr Ram Babu Yadav refuted all the charges and said that this was a conspiracy by his rivals to malign his image. "I am 71 years old, how can I say such thingsIJ I do not know what "chooza" is," he told reporters. However, he remained tight-lipped when asked whether he was ready to get his voice samples tested to prove that the voice in the conversation was not his.
