The father of a Samajwadi Party leader enjoying the rank and status of a Minister of State in the Samajwadi Party government has been accused of threatening a police team which had gone to his village in Bagpat district to arrest four people for alleged cow slaughter on last Wednesday.

Interestingly, IG (Civil Defense), Amitabh Thakur, who is also a social activist, had demanded stern action against the accused in the matter and had also written a letter in this regard to the director general of police. He said that the police team is now living under fear of their lives.

According to reports, Dharampal Chaudhary, father of  SP leader Kuldeep Ujjwal, allegedly threatened a sub-inspector (SI) and two constables that he would strip them of their uniforms when they had gone to Mavikala village on Wednesday to arrest four people accused of cow slaughter. Ujjawal is Chairman of UP government’s Remote Sensing Application Centre and enjoys the rank and status of a Minister of State in the state government.

Though the police team returned empty handed, the SI registered the incident in the general diary maintained at the police station, reports confirmed. The matter came to light after a local video-graphed the incident in his mobile phone and forwarded the clip to media.  When contacted, Superintendent of Police, Jitendra Kumar Shahi said they had come to know about the incident and an inquiry into the matter had been handed over to ASP, Vidyasagar Mishra.

Social Activist Amitabh Thakur and his wife Nutan Thakur also claimed that Dr Kuldip Ujjawal’s (enjoying minister of state status in UP Government) father Dharmpal Singh threatening Sub Inspector Ashok Kumar of police station Balaini, district Baghpat for daring to conduct raid in Mavikalan village. They sought immediate registration of FIR against Dharmpal Singh and legal proceedings in the matter.

In his complaint sent  to DGP  on Saturday, Amitabh Thakur has said that after having talked to SI Ashok Kumar, Inspector Virendra Singh and SP Baghpat J K Shahi, he has come to the conclusion that the SI was hindered and threatened with dire consequences during his official duty, which is a cognizable offence under sections 353 (2 year imprisonment), 504 (2 year imprisonment) and 506 (2 year imprisonment) IPC. ``The SI told me that he feared for his life considering the criminal antecedents of the Minister and his father”, revealed Thakur, adding that he has asked for registration of FIR against Dharmpal Singh on the basis of Ashok Kumar’s General Diary note and a detailed enquiry and necessary action as regard threat to SI’s life

Meanwhile, Ujjawal refuted the allegations against his father and said that the people accused of cow slaughter belonged to a Muslim family residing in the village. He claimed that some people in the village, who wanted the family to leave, were behind the incident.
