The Samajwadi Party lashed out at the Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati claiming that the emancipation of Dalits, OBCs and minorities was possible only under the SP rule and Dr Ambedkar had advocated the policy of 'state socialism'.
Speaking at a function to celebrate 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhim Rao Ambedakr, PWD minister Shivpal Yadav said that Mayawati is more concerned about dailt votes rather than Dr Ambedkar's mission and propagation of his ideology. He said that the Dalits and downtrodden of UP have seen through the game of Mayawati and are no longer ready to be conned by the BSP for its political ends.
"Mayawati has destroyed the Dalit mission of Baba Saheb as she has nothing to do with the ideology. Had she been concerned with the Baba Saheb's values, she would have initiated concrete measures like publication and distribution of Dr Ambedkar's books. Despite being the Chief Minister of UP four times, she can not cite even four instances where she worked for realising the dreams of Dr Ambedkar,’’claimed Yadav.
"Can Mayawati explain as to how many Dalit households she visited after losing power in 2012 or gave assistance to a poor Dalit family in the last five years,’’ querried the SP leader.
Claiming that only the SP has fought for Dr Ambedkar's ideals and advanced his mission of social change, Yadav said, "Mayawati is a political tourist . She comes to lucknow in the morning and returns to Delhi by the evening flight.
Rebutting Mayawati's charges on the law and order situation in lucknow on Thursday, Yadav said, "She has no right to comment about UP as she is a non-resident citizen. She is ignorant about rapid strides in development in thge four years of SP rule. Good law and order has resulted in huge investment and rise in foreign tourists visiting the state.’’
Meanwhile the SP announced one more candidate for the 2017 Assembly polls and Ilyas Qureshi was made the candidate from Mirapur seat in Muzaffarnagar.
