SP in no hurry to announce candidates

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that his party would announce its candidates for the Lok Sabha polls after the election schedule was notified.

“We are in no hurry to announce the candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. It will be done when the dates of the elections are disclosed,” Akhilesh told reporters at a press conference jointly addressed by him and Gujarat leader Hardik Patel in Lucknow on Thursday.

Setting to rest speculations about the delay in Lok Sabha polls due to the Pulwama terror attack on CRPF convoy, the SP leader said that the elections would be held on time and the people would dethrone the Bharatiya Janata Party from power.

“The BJP is doing politics over every issue. Even in the Pulwama terror attack, BJP leaders are trying to gain political mileage from it,” the SP chief said, adding that when the roads were thoroughly checked during VVIP movement why was it not done in the case of movement of security personnel.

“The people are waiting for the Lok Sabha polls and will teach the BJP a good lesson,” he claimed.

When asked about Rashtriya Lok Dal’s talks with the Congress for a probable alliance, the SP chief said that RLD leaders had clarified on Thursday that they were with the BSP-SP alliance.
