laying the foundation stone of 1320 MW thermal power project in Etah on Friday, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party government has transformed Uttar Pradesh by improving infrastructure as well as extending social umbrella for the poor and the downtrodden.
“Uttar Pradesh is no longer a laggard state as considered earlier. It is developing very fast. Good quality roads have come up, new projects have been launched to generate power with the result that entrepreneurs are now investing in UP,” Yadav said.
The CM said that his government had promised 24 hour power supply in urban areas and 18-20 hour supply in rural areas. “We have fulfilled that promise. UP will become self-reliant in power generation as many more thermal power plants will start operation in coming years,” Yadav said..
“We had a vision and a road map to transform that vision into reality. If we are working to generate power through conventional methods, we have also opted for non-conventional methods and tapped solar energy to supply power,” he said and added: “When the SP is voted back to power in 2017, we will provide 24 hour power to villages.”
Addressing a rally after laying foundation stones of various projects including 1320 MW projects in Etah, 1320 MW project for Obra C and expansion of 660 MW thermal power project in Harduaganj, the CM said that the SP has worked hard to improve power supply.
“You can compare our government’s performance with the previous ones. While the last government built memorials and statues, the SP government worked hard to provide better facilities to the people. There has been holistic development across the state,” Yadav said.
Yadav asked party workers to go to the people and make them aware about the achievements of the SP regime. “We have distributed laptops and over 1 crore people have registered for smart phones. The onus will now be on the workers to popularize policies of the state government. If we can educate people about our policies, no one can stop the SP from coming back to power,” he said.
The CM was caustic about the BJP and said that the party had failed to fulfill its promise. “The BJP’s top leader had promised ‘acche din’ but thatis nowhere in the vicinity. The government has made people to stand in queues outside banks and ATMs to get their own money. Is this ‘achche din’ that was promised,” he querried.
“Demonetisation has affected the poor and small traders very badly. The economy is on a regression. People will teach the BJP a lesson in the coming election,” he said.
TheCM inaugurated or laid foundation stone of over Rs 51,000 crore projects. He inaugurated 1000 MW thermal power project of Sonebhadra, 1320 MW thermal power project of lalitpur, 1980 MW power project at Bara in Allahabad and various other sub-stations.
