The veneer of truce between Samajwadi party leadership and Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid seems to have cracked after Syed Ahmad Bukhari said that Akhilesh Yadav Government has done nothing for the welfare of Muslims.
"At present there was not even single Muslim minister in state government who genuinely works for Muslim issues and problems. They just work for personal gains," said Bukhari while talking to The Pioneer here on Sunday. The statement came just two days after Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had claimed that all was well between him and Sahhi Imam. He had even said that Syed Bukhari was with Samajwadi Party and was supporting party’s pro-Muslim policies.
The Maulana however did not agree. He says "he will give a thought of giving giving issue based support to SP in 2014 elections".
Slamming the Muslim leadership in state government, Bukhari said many Muslim leaders were given status of state minister but the departments given to them were of no use for Muslim development. Bukhari was annoyed over removal of Waseem Khan from the post of UP Pollution Control Board. He said Waseem was removed from the post just because he was a Muslim as government do not want to give effective post to the Muslims. Why they want everything from Muslims and do not want to give anything in return.
Without naming Cabinet Minister, Azam Khan, cleric alleged that there was a minister who has got more than nine departments has nothing to do with Muslims and none likes him. If Samajwadi party will field him forthcoming parliamentary elections he will not able to get even four votes.
Before assembly elections SP promised to given 18 percent reservations to Muslims in the state, which was yet to be fulfilled in the state. "There were 8 percent Yadavs in the state and 30 percent Muslims. See the apathy, one will find police officers, SP and District Magistrates from Yadav community but number of Muslim was so low that it can be counted on fingers," said Bukhari. Adding to it, he said giving reservation was in state government's hand then why are they asking central government to give the same.
