Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati accused Akhilesh Yadav government for extending undue favour to Yadav comuunity only by trying to make changes in the reservation policy. She also came down on deteriorating law and order situation and claimed that the people were now realizing their mistake of voting SP to power and are eager to teach Akhilesh Yadav a lesson in coming Parliamentary polls scheduled for next year.
The failed efforts to implement three-layered reservation in the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) was just an example of this agenda", alleged while taking to the reporters here on Saturday afternoon. The new policy was framed to give undue benefit to Yadavs in the state civil services exams though the government not succeeded in their move, she added. ''The state government may have withdrawn the new reservation policy under fear of the judiciary but the fact remains that this government caters to only Yadav community,'' the former UP chief minister charged. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo said the welfare and rights of all other castes had been ignored and the Yadav cummunity members were ruling the roost by grabbing top positions in the government.
''Even right minded Yadavs are being marginalised and favoured ones are those who are party to the wrong doings of the Akhilesh government,'' she pointed out. Mayawati said that the discontent was fast brewing up in the other backward and upper castes due to undue favour to Yadavs and the recent incidents after UPPSC reservation policy was also the fallout of this surmise. ''It was not due to popular sentiments but the controversial reservation policy was put on hold after intervention of the court,''she said. Demanding withdrawal of all cases against the agitator students in Allahabad, the headquarters of UPPSC, Mayawati said that her government always followed the principle of 'Sarva Jan Hitayay (welfare for all)' and refrained from supporting any particular caste or community.
Coming down heavily on the heavy expenditure incurred on the functions to distribute free lap tops, the BSP leader said the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was trying to divert the attention of the people by such gimmicks. 'Even the distribution of lap tops is not fair and there are complaints of discrimination on government's part in this regard,'' she further charged. She said that the discrimination by the government at various levels was bound to boomerang on the Samajwadi Party starting from next lok Sabha elections. Reiterating her demand for imposing Presidents Rules in the State, Mayawati said that people are now fed up with jungle raj of Samajwadi Party and are waiting to give it a reply in the next lok Sabha elections. She said that Akhilesh Yadav’s government was least bothered with the security of the citizen but instead the SP was patronizing criminals and anti-social elements.
