SP Govt decisions are influenced by religion: BJP

Published on:

Alleging that administrative anarchy prevailed in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party said the state Government’s decisions were influenced by religion and it was allowing corrupt officers to go scot free.  “Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should clarify the yardstick his Government was adopting in taking action against officials.

He himself has admitted that he wanted to take action against two district magistrates but the decision was put on hold after much hue and cry was raised over suspension of Durga Shakti Nagpal. What does it meanIJ” BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Thursday.  In an interview to a magazine, the Chief Minister had said that he wanted to suspend two district magistrates and many chief development officers for anomalies in MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act) schemes but refrained from going ahead with the decision in view of the furore over suspension of Durga Shakti Nagpal.

“Suspension of officials for reported anomalies in MNREGA schemes is an administrative decision but the Government felt shy in taking action against the officers concerned. Instead, it took action against a trainee ostensibly because she ordered demolition of a mosque wall constructed on gram sabha land,” Pathak said. Criticising the Chief Minister, the BJP state spokesman said that Akhilesh Yadav was always blaming others for his mistakes. “He blames others but does not say what action his Government has taken against officials who failed to control communal riots,” Pathak added.

“Moreover, the Government’s decisions have a communal angle. The Government announced that innocent Muslims would be released. Innocent is innocent why divide it on religious linesIJ” he asked, and added: “The Government should stop looking at decision from communal angle and start working for the development of the state.”
