SP Govt creating fear among bureaucracy, Secretariat staff

The Bharatiya Janata Party accused the ruling Samajwadi Party government of creating an atmosphere of fear among the bureaucracy and ther secretariat staff.

Reacting sharply to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan’s misbehaviour with his staff, BJP’s senior state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Wednesday that the minister could be a compulsion for Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav but not for the people, who were in no mood to tolerate Khan’s tongue lashing.

Pathak said senior bureaucrats had all along been silently tolerating the minister’s misbehaviour, but the Secretariat staff had raised their voice against Khan, “who is known for spitting fire in his dealing with his staff”.

The party spokesman said the officers and staff were demoralised. Earlier also, Khan had publicly accused his Principal Secretary of being anti-Muslim. The Principal Secretary of Urban Development department had proceeded on leave due to the minister’s behaviour.

Pathak said that Khan had remained absent in several meetings of the Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.Citing another example, the BJP state spokesman said the Samajwadi Party at its Azamgarh rally on Tuesday had projected Khan as having a bigger image than that of the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. This, Pathak said, was against the protocol.Giving further details, the BJP state spokesman said the Akhilesh Yadav Government was trying to create hurdles in BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s proposed Bahraich rally on November 8. The rally would be held at Suheldev on Nanpara road.A bhoomi pujan would be held at the senior rally venue on October 31.
