SP government was ducking the issue of providing quota to minorities:RlD

Charging SP chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav of cheating the minorities, the Rashtriya lok Dal on Saturday alleged that the SP government was ducking the issue of providing quota to Backward Muslims.

"The SP in its election manifesto had promised Other Backward Class (OBC) Muslims with a 18 percent quota. But after coming to power, the party conveniently ignored the issue," said RlD state chief Munna Singh Chauhan.

Stressing that the percentage of Muslims in government jobs was dismal and they were among the most backward communities in UP, Chauhan said that no action was being taken by the Akhilesh Yadav government on the Sachchar Committee recommendations.

Raising the issue of minority welfare institutions lying defunct despite a year of the SP regime, the RlD leader said that his party would be holding Muslim conferences across UP to highlight the government's apathy towards the community.
