Samajwadi Party has announced to field a transgender Gulshan Bindu as its mayor candidate from the Ayodhya nagar nigam.

The SP on Sunday announced its mayoral candidates for seven nagar nigam.  The candidates are Ms Deepu Manethia valmiki-Meerut, Dr I S Tomar –Bareilly, Yusuf Ansari-Moradabad, Muzahir Kidwai-Aligarh, Rahul Saxena-Jhansi, Gulshan Bindu-Ayodhya and Rahul Gupta from Gorakhpur.  There are total 16 nagar nigam in UP.

Akhilesh Yadav said the SP has given representation to all sections of the society. He said the women and the traders are worst affected by the economic policies of the BJP. He said the traders   have not only faced huge losses due to the demonetization and Goods and services tax, they have also been humiliated by the BJP government.

SP president later addressing the party workers at the state office of the party said the elections of the urban local bodies have provided a huge opportunity for the   party and the party cadres should take it as a challenge   to recover the lost ground. SP was decimated during the March 2017 state assembly elections by the BJP and its tally was reduced to mere 47 seats against 230 seats in 2012 assembly elections.

``Samajwadi party has lot of things to showcase as its achievements during its regime from March 2012 to March 2017, while the BJP has nothing to show except deceit and false promises.  The urban local body elections have given big opportunity to expose the BJP which captured the power by pursuing the divisive agenda creating the polarization of the electorate on communal lines’’, said the SP president.

He said the BJP has ditched each section of the society as they have failed to launch any development or welfare scheme for benefitting any section of the society.  He said the welfare scheme like the Samajwadi pension and yojna and several other schemes have been scrapped by the Yogi Adityanath government.   He said despite the poll debacle in state assembly elections, the Samajwadi party has retained the trust of the people.   He asked the party to go among the people and convert this confidence into votes for the urban local body elections.
