SP-Congress alliance, clear edge over its rivals :CM

Adressing six election meetings in Moradabad and Badaun on Monday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the SP-Congress alliance had a clear edge over its rivals in the first phase on February 11 and will continue to lead in the later phases of UP Assembly elections.

``The process of forming the next Samajwadi Party government has begun from the first phase of polling. The SP-Congress alliance will win a majority of the seats,’’ said Yadav.

In an obvious dig at the BJP, the SP chief said, “Those unnerved by the polling trend and possible outcome in the first phase are issuing statements on who their arch rival was.’’

After the first phase of polling, BJP president Amit Shah had said that the Bahujan Samaj Party would be the main rival of the BJP in the rest of the six phases of elections.

Attemtping to struike a rapport with the electorate in Moradabad, Yadav said, “I have not come here to deliver long speeches but to apprise you about the work done by the SP government. I can see the enthusiasm among the people to press the cycle button on the poll day on February 15.’’

lashing out at the BJP, Akhilesh said, “The BJP is not interested in forming the government so they have taken the electoral plunge without declaring a chief ministerial candidate. They mocked at the Samajwadi Party for having five chief ministers, but they do not have a single face for the job.’’

Countering the BJP’s development plank, Yadav said, “The BJP is only making tall claims on cleaning Ganga river. The SP government has developed riverfronts in lucknow and Varanasi along Gomati and Varuna rivers respectively.’’

The CM said that if voted to power, the SP government will implement similar riverfront development project along the Ramganga river in Moradabad.

Yadav also targeted the Bahujan Samaj Party dubbing it as the `patthar wali party’. ``Never commit the mistake of voting for the BSP as if it comes to power will do nothing except  constructing parks, memorials and installing statues of elephants. The BSP government may decide to construct the tallest statue of elephant thus spending all financial resources of the government on stones.’’

The SP chief however said, “Its a welcome change that the BSP chief has promised no further construction of parks, memorials and statues of elephants and instead implement development projects.”
