SP cancels suspension of five party MlA's

Desperate to win the polls to the legislative council from local body's constituency, the Samajwadi Party has revoked the suspension of five party MlAs. They were suspended last month for opposing the party candidate for the election of Chairman of District Panchyat.

Senior SP leader Shival Yadav informed on Thursday that the suspension of the MlAs Rampal Yadav, Anup Kumar Gupta, Radhey Shyam Jaisawal, Mahendra Kumar Singh and Manish Rawat of Sitapur, has been revoked while the a decision on the sixth MlA, Ruchi Veera from Bijnor is on hold.

Sources said that the party was left with no option but to withdraw the suspensions as the MlAs particularly Rampal Yadav remained defiant. Despite a warning, he opposed the party candidates for the block pramukh polls and ensured his candidate's victory.

Party sources said that CM's confidant and candidate for the council election from Sitapur, Anand Bhadauria prevailed upon the CM to revoke the suspensions. He offered that without their support, it would be difficult for him to win. The MlAs have been summoned to lucknow on Wednesday where they will meet the SP chief Mulayam Singh and also the CM.

Meanwhile, Revenue minister Shivpal Yadav released the flag of the Revenue department and announced the implementation of the UP Revenue Code from Thursday. He said that February 11 would be observed as 'Rajswa Diwas’ from next year.

Yadav said with the implementation of the Code, the state government has undertaken an ambitious programme for modernisation of Tehsil offices and buildings. He said that buildings of all 353 Tehsils would be painted in the same colour and all offices will be equipped with modern gadgets like computer and other equipment.

"In the first phase 60 Tehsils would be modernized. In last two years, the government has created 60 new Tehsils and few proposals are pending which will be decided soon," he said.

The minister said that after the Revenue Code, the government intends to modernize the Chakbandi (land consolidation) department.
