SP, BSP wants favourable Ombudsman claims BJP

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged a tacit truck between the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party over the appointment of lokayukta, as both the parties want a favourable Ombudsman.

“The affidavit of UP government before the Supreme Court that the leader of Opposition and senior BSP leader, Swami Prasad Maurya was on the same page as the gvernment on the issue of appointment of lokayukta, shows that both parties have a tacit understanding over the appointment,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in lucknow on Tuesday.

He said that both parties are neck deep in corruption and want a favourable lokayukta. "When these parties are in Opposition, they threaten to take action if they come to power which never actualise. Neither the BSP nor the SP have taken action against each others’ ministers," Pathak said.

“Besides, there is a mystery in the statements of the SP and the BSP leaders. The government says that leader of Opposition has approved the name of lokayukta suggested by the CM while Swami Prasad Maurya, in his letter to Governor, has said that he has never accepted any name suggested by the ruling party,” the spokesman said. Pathak said that Maurya should clarify his stand on the contentious issue publicly.
