SP breaches code of conduct: pathak

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that members of the ruling Samajwadi Party were carrying out processions during filing of nomination which is violation of the model code of conduct. “The Samajwadi party members could be seen escorting procession of leaders going to file nomination. Some of the members could be seen brandishing guns but so far no action has been taken against them,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in a written statement issued here on Wednesday.

He said that in many places where police and district officials have tried to bring decorum during filing of nomination papers they have been beaten up by the Samajwadi Party workers. Senior leaders and legislators have even threatened the officials of dire consequences, he said. “The result is now no one objects to the indecent behaviour of SP workers. In Pathar Deva in Deoria district SP workers beat up station officer.

The only fault of the officer was he had objected to violation of model code of conduct as a candidate supported by SP had come in a big procession,” Pathak said. He said ministers in the state government are touring districts and were visiting villages and blocks in their official cars. “The BJP has raised the issue with State Election Commission and has demanded an action against the ruling party leaders, legislators and ministers,” BJP spokesman said.
