SP blames Modi over Ram Temple issue

Hitting out at BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that Bharatiya Janata Party never wanted to construct Ram temple they were interested only to keep the issue n alive.

“If BJP was really interested in construction of Ram temple it could had done it easily when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the PM and Kalyan Singh was Chief Minister of UP. But they refused to do it because they were interested in doing politics,” he said.

“I once had offered them 70 acres of land in Ayodhya for the Ram temple, but they refused my offer,” he said.

Yadav said that BJP cannot be trusted as they are only interested in communalising the voters for their own vested interest.

Addressing a gathering on the birth anniversary of late socialist leader Karpoori Thakur here on Friday Yadav, without taking any name, said that India is passing through a critical phase because leaders were acting like “Hitler”.

Yadav said he will continue to attack the p[erspon who tells lies because 100 lies of a person can turn into truth. So I will have to speak against such person who wants to confuse people,” he said.

Claiming that he was instrumental in saving the Babri Mosque in 1990, the SP president said that even after assurance by the BJP leaders in 1992 that there would be no harm to the Mosque they went against their promise.

“The then PM also told me that BJP leaders had ditched him,” he said.

However, Yadav refused to reply on any of the questions thrown by Modi at his Gorakhpur rally but he asked people to support SP because it would be like voting for a change.

“Centre is like a commissioner while the state government is like a Patwari. Do a Patwari have any power against the CommissionerIJ So it will be better to become a Commissioner now, rather than being a patwari,” he said.

However, the SP leader did not spare the Congress saying that the Centre has failed to control corruption and inflation, leading to peoples’ misery.

Talking about the ideology of Karpoori Thakur, the Samajwadi party chief said, “we should follow the path shown by him to serve the society,” he said. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and state PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav were also present in the function.

Meanwhile, the party has postponed the crucial meeting of the legislators due to the death of party MlA Deepak  Kumar.
