SP blames Centre for UP's woes

Blaming the Centre for the power crisis prevailing in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said the Narendra Modi Government had not released the Central share for developmental schemes of the state and it was biased towards UP in allocation of coal.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, Yadav said the Centre owed over Rs 45,000 crore to UP. “This money is meant for development of Uttar Pradesh but the Central Government is sitting on it over one pretext or the other,” he said.Yadav said soon a delegation of SP leaders would meet the Prime Minister and apprise him of the biased attitude of the Central Government towards Uttar Pradesh.
“Even the prevailing power crisis is because of Centre’s biased policies. The Centre is supposed to give over 6000 megawatt electricity to UP but it has released only 5,000 MW. Besides, it has not released coal as per the allocation, and paucity of coal has led to closure of many thermal power plants,” he added.
Yadav was in the state capital to attend the annual meeting of lohia Trust. He said the state Government was committed to usher in development in the state. “If the Centre does not release the required money, the state will generate its own resources to carry forward development projects,” he added.
When asked about Prime Minister’s visit to the US, Yadav said it was a routine visit.
“In fact, the Prime Minister has gone to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations. like Modi, heads of many other states are also going there, he said. “Modi is not there on the invitation of President Barack Obama. Had he gone there on Obama’s invitation then one could have said that the US has given importance to India,” Yadav added.
On Chinese incursion, the SP general secretary said that Indian Government had failed to put its point across to Chinese President effectively. “The Chinese soldiers have put up tents on Indian soil and their number is increasing with every passing day. The Indian Government should be tough with China otherwise the incursions will continue,” he added.Yadav also hinted at the possibility of alliance with the Congress in Maharashtra. “The issue is being taken up by SP’s Maharashtra unit president Abu Asim Azmi,” he added.
