Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) leader Shivpal Yadav accused the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party of contesting the Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan only to weaken the Congress and benefit the BJP.
Shivpal alleged that both parties played the role of spoilers and worked as the B team of the BJP only to divide anti-BJP votes. He said that both were scared of the BJP and wary of forging an alliance in UP for 2019 Lok Sabha poll.
Shivpal said that his party was the real Samajwadi Party and the other one headed by his nephew Akhilesh was a gang of sycophants and unscrupulous elements. “Right now, my party is neither with the Congress nor with the BJP and we will take an appropriate decision at the right moment,” said the PSPL chief in Moradabad on Wednesday.
Reiterating his anti-temple stand, Shivpal said: “The BJP never wanted the construction of the temple at Ayodhya. If they are so adamant for the temple, they could construct it anywhere except on the disputed site at Ayodhya.”
Denying his proximity to the BJP, Shivpal Yadav said: “It is a canard being spread by my political rivals. The only thing that they have against me is the allotment of the official bungalow for my party office by the state government. The Yogi government has done no favour and I deserve the bungalow being the senior member of the UP Assembly.’’
The PSPL leader said that all Opposition parties would have to come on one platform for defeating the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He said that the BJP had been punished by the electorate of MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan for making false promises to the people and playing divisive politics.
